Malakai Black has been a major presence in AEW for over three years, primarily working as part of The House of Black. However, there were rumors that he was going to leave AEW following his loss on Dynamite this week and he has now shot down such rumors.
The November 6th episode of AEW Dynamite featured Adam Cole defeating Malakai Black. After the match, Black shared a moment of respect with Cole, but when he looked back at the ring, it created speculation that he might be leaving or retiring from wrestling.
According to Fightful Select, Black is not retiring at all. However, there has been talk within AEW in recent months that if AEW doesnt exercise options on his contract, Black could potentially be done with the company by the end of this year or early 2025.
Malakai Black took to his Instagram story and addressed rumors of him leaving AEW following Dynamite. He made it clear that he is not injured, not retiring, and not leaving. He said people have been speculating about his retirement after every match, but these rumors are false.
Black pointed out that he hasnt had any injuries in over three years, including his past back injury, which he only mentioned after it was fully healed. Black asked people to stop spreading these rumors and stated that if he decides to retire, he will make the announcement himself. He also explained that Adam Coles promo was just a thank you for their match, not a sign he is leaving.
In 2022, Tony Khan mentioned that Malakai Black was under contract with AEW for five years. However, it was thenreported that his deal may expire early next year. While theres no guarantee he will stick with AEW in the long run, Black at least made it clear he isnt leaving Tony Khans company at the moment. Therefore, it remains to be seen what Black will decide for his career once his contract expires next year.
