Adam Cole is back in AEW and needs just one more win to secure a match against MJF at Full Gear on November 22. This could be a pivotal night for the former NXT Champion if he qualifies, though some fans were confused by recent developments.
Before his injury hiatus, Cole and MJF were close friends and held the ROH Tag Team Championships together. During Coles absence, it was revealed that he is The Devil, leading to the creation of the Undisputed Kingdom stable around him. However, Cole decided to stop traveling with AEW to focus on his recovery. Then he returned at WrestleDream 2024, and no mention of The Devil was made.
In an interview with Stick to Wrestling, Adam Cole addressed fans confusion over his storyline with MJF. He explained the dynamic, where he is now positioned as a babyface with the Undisputed Kingdom, while MJF remains a heel.
Adam Cole has played both babyface and heel roles in his career and has found success in each. Still, it was a surprising choice for him to return without addressing his Devil reveal.
Despite his injury, Cole stayed involved in AEW storylines, including his betrayal of MJF at Worlds End in December 2023. This led to the formation of The Undisputed Kingdom with Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Roderick Strong, and Wardlow. His last AEW appearance was at Double or Nothing in May 2024, where an in-ring clash with MJF led to his exit from television.
Now that hes back, Cole is once again a babyface. The direction of his path in AEW remains to be seen, but for now, hes moving forward as a good guy.
