Darren Cahill gave an interview to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, in which he touched on many issues, including the Clostebol doping-issue involving his player Jannik Sinner. The Australian super coach has been a key member of the young Italian's team, in the last 12 months. The ATP No.1 has achieved great results, has won 2 Slams and has already completed this season as the leader of the ATP ranking.

"After Miami, dark clouds gathered in the sky but afterwards there is always a glimmer of light. After a moment of shock, he went ahead with his head held high, he faced a long trial and we have to prove this situation. Now we face this new trial calmly but WADA has never questioned that Sinner is a clean player and for us this is the most important thing. In the difficult moment he took us by the hand, every time he can dress up as a tennis player and put the racket that is the sure thing, for him tennis is a safe place that he loves."
Cahill explained that Sinner is very competitive, even when they play cards and he never wants to give up: "It's not just about winning or losing, it's the way you face challenges and he does it as a champion."

The Australian super coach then spoke about the season he spent with the young Italian and what was the best moment: "How did this 2024 go? A beautiful picture with many nuances, starting from how Jannik played to his maturity in facing life's difficulties. We can't wait to conclude with this great event at home, in front of the Italian public. What was the best moment of the season? Well, the Australian Open. For a tennis player, the first Slam victory is one of the moments you dream of since you are a child, it is the result of all the work and sacrifices made and Jannik deserved it. Against Daniil Medvedev he made a great comeback, we saw all his strength and the refusal of a defeat."
