Grayson Waller has made it cleardont expect him to flip the script and play nice anytime soon. The WWE superstar, known for his top-level heel persona, has thrived in the villain role throughout his career, from his days in NXT to his current tag team partnership with Austin Theory. Despite signs of tension between the duo that could hint at a potential breakup, Waller isnt looking to switch to a babyface role, and hes got strong feelings about why.
Its possible, but I dont really want to, Waller confessed in an interview with Chris Van Vliet. The one thing I hate about being a babyface is, I dont think Id be honest. I think you have all of these babyfaces that have to pretend they love the fans and I cant stand the fans.
Waller didnt hold back when expressing his disdain for a certain segment of the wrestling community. I think wrestling fans are the worst fans in the world. Not the fans who pay to eat and have a good time on a Friday with the family and stuff, thats fine. These flop fans online, these smart guys who think they know wrestling, theyre the worst. They will turn on people in an instant. It doesnt work on me, you have no power over me because I dont care what you say. I can do whatever I want. Do you hate me? Good, it doesnt affect me, he continued.
Waller feels sympathy for babyfaces who must engage with fans at all hours. I feel bad for the good guys who have to pretend they like these people and give them a hug and sign stuff in the airport at 3 AM. I dont have to deal with that, he added. My main thing is, I dont want to be a babyface because I dont want to pretend I have to like these people. I cant stand them.
True to his heel nature, Waller admitted that he loves to ruin fans nights, whether theyre kids, grandparents, or diehard wrestling aficionados. I do this for the seven-year-old kid where his first time experiencing wrestling and hes so happy and he brought his wrestling is good sign and I can hit that sign as hard as he can and he starts crying, he said with no remorse. Im here to have grandma yelling at me as loud as she can because she hates what Im doing. Im here to have the 30-year-old in the black shirt, hes trying to say, You suck Grayson but hes got so many chins its hard for him to breathe properly. Im here to ruin his night, thats where I get glee from, thats what sets me apart from a lot of people.
Wallers commitment to being the bad guy is undeniable, and its clear that he thrives on the chaos he creates both in and out of the ring.
