Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the tennis players who dominated 2024 and who are probably above everyone else at the moment, as Andrey Rublev also admitted. The Russian tennis player was defeated 6-4 6-4 by Alexander Zverev in his first match of the ATP Finals in Turin. In a press conference, Rublev was asked by the media about the attempt of many players to try to reach the same level of Carlitos and Jannik, trying to be more aggressive. And he was asked what he himself lacks and what he thinks he needs to do to reach that level.

"I have to do a lot of things to get to that level. I'm trying. I'm improving. Today I think I had a lot of concentration on the court, a mentality to play good tennis. Then there are the details like the serve, the return, the net game. It takes time, we're doing it, I can't improve it tomorrow, I'd like to," he analyzed.
Rublev wanted to give credit to the German player, protagonist of an excellent match. Asked if he could have done something differently, the Russian explained: "Not much, I would say. I should have avoided the mistakes in the games where he broke my serve. But we can't control the mistakes. It's part of the sport. But for the rest, not much. He played an incredible match. The way he served you couldn't do much. His serve so far is the best compared to all the players I've played this year. He's in a moment of very high confidence and he played the match really well. There's not much to say. He was better than me today."

On the court conditions in Turin, the Russian added: "If you compare this court to last year, it's a little slower, but not that much. It's still quite fast. You don't see a lot of long rallies. Maybe one rallies every two games."
