Matt Riddle and Bill Goldberg had a turbulent relationship, marked by mutual dislikeduring their time as WWE Superstars. Although their relationship has since improved, Riddle believes Goldberg doesnt want to face him in a retirement match.
Earlier this month, WWE Hall of Famer Goldberghas officially confirmed that he will have a retirement match in 2025. Naturally, this made many fans wonder who would end up becoming his final opponent, as some want him to square off against Matt Riddle due to their history.
While speaking onBarstool Rasslin, Matt Riddle was asked if he wanted to square off against Goldberg in his retirement match. Riddle stated that he believes Goldberg isnt interested in facing him in a retirement match. He shared that he and Goldberg had a conversation while on a flight back from Saudi Arabia after a Crown Jewel show. They talked over drinks and cleared the air, with Riddle feeling theres no bad blood between them.
Riddle thinks Goldberg now understands his point of view better, and Riddle also gained a clearer understanding of why Goldberg found some of his comments disrespectful. Riddle emphasized that he didnt mean to offend him and explained that, as professional wrestlers, he just speaks facts and can back them up. Ultimately, Riddle feels thats just the reality of the situation.
Matt Riddle has also revealed thatGoldberg bragged about his bank account to him during their first interaction. Nonetheless, Riddle and Goldberg will always have an interesting relationship but fans shouldnt expect to see them face each other anytime soon.
