Mercedes Mon has been very decorated since joining AEW. She is currently a double champion with both the TBS Championship and the NJPW STRONG Womens Championship in her possession. She may now be eyeing up the top title in AEW, held by Mariah May. Mon and May havent crossed paths in the ring just yet.
While speaking to Uproxx, Mone articulated
I am super proud to watch from afar. She came in as a super fan, just loving wrestling, loved it so much that she moved from England to Japan, trained out in Stardom just to hone her craft, and now shes here. She is our womens world champion, beating Toni Storm in one of the best storylines in womens history. So to see her rise this fast and to see how good she is in the ring, its so incredible. Like I said, we have the best womens division in the game right now. Im definitely looking at the title that she has around her waist.
Mon commented on the AEW womens division as a whole
(I knew) where I wanted to be and what I want to leave in professional wrestling, to take this womens division to whole new heights all over the world, Mon says.
I wanted to have more for womens wrestling, so I knew going to AEW was the place to be to make that happen. I feel like the womens division has really changed the game. The womens division has been the best its ever been. The womens storylines are headlining AEW pay-per-views. So its just been amazing to come this far and Im really excited for more.
Mon will defend the TBS Championship against former champion Kris Statlander at Full Gear.
