Marty Scurll was in a terrific spot with Ring of Honor prior to the #SpeakingOut Movement as he was even a booker in the company. Many fans felt he would have gone to AEW but it never happened and he has now explained the reason for this.
Marty Scurll was released from the company after a story surfaced that he had sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl years ago and it ultimately ruined his reputation to the point he never joined a major pro wrestling company ever since.
While speaking on Thats Wrestling, Marty Scurll was asked why chose not to join AEW, even though it was growing fast. He was a big fan of Ring of Honor when he was younger, and thats why he loved working there. For him, it was amazing to go from being a kid watching Ring of Honor to being part of its biggest deal ever and becoming the head Booker. It was a huge achievement for him, something people might not fully understand.
Scurll also talked about why he didnt sign with AEW. Many people were surprised he stayed with Ring of Honor, but Scurll knew AEW would be bigger. However, he wasnt interested in fame; he just wanted to be known as a good wrestler. He didnt want to just be another wrestler at AEW; he wanted to make a bigger impact.
Staying with Ring of Honor gave him the chance to be head Booker and work on Creative, as well as wrestle. This was a dream come true for him. When he was a kid, he loved imagining and creating wrestling matches with his action figures, and now he was able to do that in real life.
Destiny Wrestling also faced a lot of cancellations after Marty Scurll was booked for a recent show. Regardless, Scurll will always remain a controversial name in pro wrestling and nothing will ever change that fact.
