SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced the launch of a new womens title in WWE. A tournament will decide the inaugural champion, and we have the full brackets so far. The big question is whether the red team will get the same treatment.
During the November 15 WWE SmackDown, Bayley won a triple threat match over B-Fab and Candice LeRae to advance in the WWE Womens United States Title tournament. Her advancement puts a former champion in the running for this new title.
Sean Ross Sapp noted on Fightful Select that the WWE Raw womens roster were not included in the Womens United States Title tournament have not been told why, or if an IC Title is coming for them. Obviously, many fans are expecting and hoping for a womens Intercontinental Title.
We will have to see if WWE RAW Superstars ever hear anything about their women getting a secondary title. They certainly have a roster that is loaded with talent.
Since WWE RAW is moving to Netflix, and we know that the red brand is transitioning back into a three-hour show, perhaps that will open the door for an Intercontinental Title for the women. Only time will tell what happens in the future, but fans of the blue brand are certainly here for a US Title for the women.
