Jannik Sinner rewrote the history of Italian men's tennis, winning two Slams (Australian Open and US Open) and crowning the season with the triumph at the ATP Finals in Turin, in front of his home crowd, after achieving a new incredible milestone.

In fact, thanks to the victory in the final against Taylor Fritz, the Italian has achieved several records, one of which had stood for 34 years. Sinner has won a total of 70 matches in 2024, a data that had not been seen in a single season since Andy Murray, who achieved it in 2016. But Jannik is the first tennis player born after 1990 to achieve this achievement. The ATP No.1 won the year-end Masters adding yet another prestigious trophy to his extraordinary year. An unbeatable 2024 for the Italian, who will now try to defend the title at the Davis Cup Finals won last season with Team Italy.

But not only this record. The victory obtained against Casper Ruud allowed Jannik to reach a new record of precocity. At 23 years and 92 days, the young Italian became the youngest tennis player to reach two consecutive finals after Lleyton Hewitt (2001-2002). But his records did not end there. Since the Australian Open moved to hard-courts - precisely in 1988 - Sinner is the youngest tennis player to reach the final of the Australian Open, the US Open and the ATP Finals in the same season.

The victory against the Norwegian also allowed the young Italian tennis player to remain the number 1 in the men's world ranking even at the end of the Australian Open 2025, the first Slam of the new season in which he will be called to defend the trophy and 2000 points. The gap between the Italian and his main rivals, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz, is so wide that both the German and the young Spaniard will not be able to overcome it until the end of the Happy Slam. Looking at the ATP ranking, Sinner has the great chance of closing with almost 4000 points of advantage over the German and 5000 over the Spaniard.

"It was definitely a very high-quality week, starting from the beginning. I just tried to play the best tennis I could in every match at every single moment, which I did here. The crowd helped a lot. It was definitely one of the most special weeks I've had on a tennis court and I'm very happy to have won this trophy. Goals for 2025? It's difficult to say. This year there was no specific goal of winning a Slam or being No. 1 or anything. Next year it will be the same: whatever we can win, we try to win it and the rest we learn. We worked to improve my level in specific moments, which I did throughout this year. I'm very happy about that and this was the way to close an incredible season," said Sinner at the press conference after beating Fritz and winning the ATP Finals.
