English golfer Charley Hull isn't happy about the slow game, thinking that the LPGA Tour would have to react differently, more precisely, she thinks they have to be stricter. The Annika tournament did not end well for the 28-year-old girl who expected much more from herself regarding this tournament.
Nelly Korda remained more focused in the crucial moments, turned the score around, and after five birdies deservedly took the lead. Korda capped off a great year with this win, while Hull, on the other hand, has every right to be disappointed. The English golfer wanted to win, however, Korda raised her level when it was most needed, and left Zhan and Hull behind.
Charley is not only frustrated by the fact that she was so close to another victory, but also by the slow game, which annoys her more and more every week. One golfer, specifically Carlota Ciganda, judging by the media headline, was warned for slow play, and subsequently fined.
In an interview with the media, Charleyy Hull pointed out that certain things were unbearable. The English golfer believes that such behavior should be penalized. She suggests that poor timing should result in a penalty of one stroke.
Hull went so far, as stressing that three bad timings should automatically mean losing your Tour card. The experienced golfer points out that this is the only way that some golfers realize they have to play in a different way. However, it is hard to really expect the LPGA to be so strict, reacting in such a way.
"It was crazy," -Hull said, as quoted by Golf Magic.
"I'm quite ruthless, but I said, listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it's a two shot penalty.
If you have three of them you lose your Tour card instantly.
I'm sure that would hurry a lot of people up and they won't want to lose their Tour card.
That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that."
Hull labels such things as ridiculous, noting that he feels sad for the fans who have had to watch how slowly things are moving. The English golfer is disappointed considering they had to be there for 5 hours and 40 minutes. She revealed that playing in a fourball at home on a hard golf course, they finished the round in three and a half hours, possibly four, marking the situation from yesterday as 'pretty crazy'.
Reacting to her performance yesterday, the 28-year-old is happy. Hull believes that in certain moments she wasn't quite lucky, but she admits that her opponent (Nelly Korda) was fantastic. The whole experience was fun for her.
Trump dance
One situation also caught the attention of golf fans. Namely, at one point this popular golfer pulled out the Trump Dance during the final round, thus causing the amazement of many. Supporters of Donald Trump praised her move, stressing that it all looked very interesting and lovely to them.
Hull is obviously a person who supports Trump and his politics, pleased that he became the new US president.
Donald Trump is known as a big fan of golf, and a man from whom fans and golfers expect great things in the future. Considering the chaotic situation in the world of golf, many hope that Trump will be the one who can change things. The new US president admitted during the campaign that he will do everything in his power to help the world of golf move in the right direction.
Nelly Korda reacts to her victory
Nelly Korda can be the most satisfied with the tournament, considering she won at the ANNIKA. In an interview with the media, she pointed out that it is a great thing to return to the golf courses and fight for first place. Korda is someone who is very passionate about golf, stressing that she felt a large dose of adrenaline during the competition. This kind of victory will be an additional wind at her back, and we have no doubt that she can be just as impressive next season.
"It feels great to be back out here and there's nothing like being in the hunt.
"There's nothing like the adrenaline flowing on the back nine and being in contention. I love it so much."- Korda said.
Fans of women's golf have every reason to be pleased with what they have had the chance to watch this year. Korda and Hull will be golfers who will equally attract attention in the coming months, given that their ambitions and appetites are growing year by year. We hope for even greater tournaments and better performances from both golfers.
