Gable Steveson, the Olympic gold medalist and two-time NCAA wrestling champion, will return to the University of Minnesota wrestling team for a fifth season. This comes after two short runs with WWE and the NFL, but neither worked out. Now he is able to speak about what went wrong.
While taking questions during a press conference, Gable Steveson explained why he made the decision to make a return to the University of Minnesota. He was also asked what went wrong in WWE. At this point, he seems to be open to an eventual second run with the company, but right now he is focused on his return to the University of Minnesota.
When it comes to what happened with his WWE run, Gable Steveson was quite honest as he replied that there was a ton of competition in WWE. There is no bad blood, so a return is always possible, but hes going to keep pressing forward regardless.
When it comes to his time in the NFL, he let everyone know that he had no previous football experience. I got a few tackles and a couple of games and a few QB hits. I had a few other teams reach out to me previously before coming back to here, so maybe after the season its another opportunity, Gable explained.
Gable Steveson was released from WWE, and his NFL stint with the Buffalo Bills didnt get into the regular season before he was cut. He acknowledged that he had never played football before but left the door open for another attempt at the sport in the future.
Steveson has returned to the University of Minnesota, a move that the program clearly supports. His return appears to have been met with a warm welcome. We will have to see where he lands next, but he doesnt seem discouraged by the way things turned out in the WWE or NFL at this point.
