The 2024-2025 girls' high school basketball season has tipped off in some states (Indiana and Texas). The rest of the country will play their first games by December.
The top of the preseason SCNext Power Rankings sees two powerhouse Florida programs, a back-to-back California Open Division Champion and two more teams with major Division 1 depth.
Montverde begins at the No. 1 spot after bolstering its roster with transfers: seniors Agot Makeer (2025 ESPN 100 No. 4), Aliyah Crump (2025 ESPN 100 No. 5, Texas commit) and junior Saniyah Hall (2026 ESPN 60 No. 1). Montverde won the 2024 Chipotle Nationals and has an entire Division I-bound roster.
IMG will have Australian Lara Somfai (2025 ESPN 100 No. 16, Stanford commit) and has added the aggressive guard play of senior Nylah Wilson (2025 ESPN 100 No. 28, Auburn commit). Kelis Fisher (2025 ESPN 100 No. 27, UConn commit) and Deniya Prawl (2025 ESPN 100 No. 14, Tennessee commit) return for IMG.
Long Island Lutheran also has a revamped roster, adding several new perimeter players to play with 2026 ESPN 60 No. 13 Savvy Swords. Look out for the upstart Ontario Christian (CA) with sophomore Kaleena Smith (2027 ESPN 25 No. 1) and 2028 ESPNW Watch List players Sydney Douglas and Tatianna Griffin.
These teams will face each other at major events like the Thanksgiving Hoopfest, Nike Tournament of Champions, She Got Game Series (Dallas, DC, New Jersey, Atlanta) and the annual Hoophall event in Springfield, MA.
