NXTs rising star Charlie Dempsey is set to make waves outside of WWEs developmental brand.
WWN announced on Tuesday that Dempsey will take on Timothy Thatcher at their Battle For The Belts event on December 15 in Clearwater, Florida. This match marks a big moment as Thatcher returns to WWN for the first time in five years, promising a fierce showdown between two technical titans.
For those unfamiliar, WWN (World Wrestling Network) has a storied past, known for showcasing top-tier talent through brands like Evolve, which WWE acquired back in 2020. Today, WWN features promotions such as American Combat Wrestling, Full Impact Pro, Grindhouse, Shine Wrestling, and Viva La Luchamaking it a perfect proving ground for stars like Dempsey.
WWE has been shaking things up by sending NXT talent to indie promotions and even collaborating with TNA to give their athletes more in-ring time. Fans are in for a treat as Dempsey, Myles Borne, and Karmen Petrovic have all been announced for the upcoming Bloodsport event on November 24.
This wont be Dempseys first time venturing out eitherhe even faced off against Katsuhiko Nakajima for the AJPW Triple Crown title earlier this year on January 1.
Its clear WWE is committed to broadening its NXT stars experience and skill sets through these independent showcases.
