Leny Yoro was pulled from a planned appearance for Manchester United's Under-21 side on Tuesday after his first training session under new head coach Ruben Amorim, a report has revealed.
Yoro, a 52m signing during the summer, suffered a foot injury in pre-season which has kept him sidelined ever since, but he was back in full training for Amorim's first session as he closes in on his competitive debut for his new side.
It was initially speculated that Yoro could be given minutes with the Under-21 side to rebuild his fitness and, according to the Manchester Evening News, that was the plan as Yoro was told he would start Tuesday's meeting with Altrincham.
However, after his first training session with Amorim, Yoro was withdrawn from the Under-21's starting lineup.
As of yet, no formal reason for the decision has been revealed but, considering Yoro played a significant role in Amorim's first session and is not believed to have suffered any fitness setbacks, many have suggested the 19-year-old is being fast-tracked back to the senior side.
United return to action against Ipswich Town on Sunday and Yoro could now be handed his debut against Kieran McKenna's side, either off the bench or even from the starting lineup.
Amorim's first session saw Yoro start as a right-sided centre-back in a three-man setup alongside Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw.
Harry Maguire remains sidelined with a calf injury, while Lisandro Martinez's fitness is unclear after he withdrew from the Argentina squad for November's international break. Victor Lindelof limped off injured for Sweden and is not expected to be available.
Matthijs de Ligt missed the first session due to international commitment with the Netherlands but is likely to return to the starting lineup.
