Former WWE announcer Ricardo Rodriguez is pulling back the curtain on his emotional post-release days, revealing that alcohol played a significant role in the fiery social media posts he made after his departure.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Rodriguez opened up about the bitterness and impulsivity that followed WWEs abrupt announcement of his releaseand how booze became a big factor in his online reactions.
Rodriguez explained that he had barely hung up the phone after being told about his release when the news went public. A lot of bitterness went into the next few minutes because as soon as I hung up the phone, I started getting all these alerts on Twitter that I had been released, he said.
The abruptness of WWEs announcement made things worse. In my head, I was like, These mother******. I didnt even wait a day; as soon as I got off the phone, they had posted that I was let go. I thought, Dude, you couldnt have waited?
While he understood that WWE might have had a reason for making the news public so quickly, the timing left him angry and bitter for years.
During those tumultuous months after leaving WWE, Rodriguez turned to social media to express his frustrations. However, he now admits that alcohol heavily influenced many of those posts.
Rodriguez reflected on how the alcohol compounded his bitterness toward wrestling and WWE, admitting that the combination created a downward spiral.
Although Rodriguez has since left those feelings behind, his honest admission offers insight into the emotional toll that abrupt career changes can have on wrestlers. Now focused on his work in MLW and other promotions, Rodriguez seems to have found his footing again, even if it took time and hard lessons to get there.
