Dustin Rhodes has a vision for AEWs future, and it includes a developmental program similar to WWEs Independent Development (WWE ID) initiative. WWE ID has gained traction for showcasing rising independent talent like Marcus Mathers, Sean Legacy, Zayda Steel, and Jackson Drake. Now, Rhodes is calling on AEW to take a similar approach to secure the companys long-term success.

In a recent interview with WFAA 8, Rhodes discussed the idea of AEW creating a developmental pipeline. When asked if his own Rhodes Wrestling Academy could become a WWE ID school, Rhodes explained why thats unlikely. I dont think through WWE because Im here, and I think thats probably the reason they havent reached out, right, because Im contracted with All Elite Wrestling, he said.

But Rhodes didnt stop there. He made it clear that hed love to see Tony Khan launch an AEW version of the program. I would love for Tony to do that with us where we have a little type thing. That would be kind of cool for some of our schools, especially me since Im like one of the originals here.

Fans have been clamoring for AEW to establish a developmental program, arguing that it would strengthen the companys roster and future. Rhodes endorsement of the idea adds fuel to the fire, especially given his extensive experience mentoring up-and-coming wrestlers.
