WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross didnt hold back on the latest episode of Grilling JR, calling out a trend he believes has no place in professional wrestlingjewelry in the ring.
The legendary commentator and old-school purist made it clear that he thinks the habit is not only unnecessary but downright dangerous.
Why the hell are the wrestlers wearing jewelry when theyre fighting? Ross ranted, targeting performers across all wrestling promotions. Thats all companies, whether it be necklaces or earrings or bracelets or whatever the hell it may be. I know Im old school. You can get out in my fu**ing yard anytime now, but golly. Its so weak.
JRs frustration stems from both aesthetic and practical concerns, as he pointed out the risks jewelry can pose during a match. You can get caught up in someones gear, and in the worst-case scenario, it can be ripped out during a match, Ross explained. I dont think any wrestler should ever wear any jewelry when theyre wrestling. Somebody just has to say, No, you cant wear your sh*t. Put it up, and then when you get through wrestling, you can put it back on. Its just not good.
Ross fiery comments lit up the wrestling community, with fans debating whether todays flashy culture clashes with the grit of old-school wrestling. While some agree with JRs take, others see jewelry as part of the character flair in modern wrestling.
