AEW kicks it into Full Gear tonight and the womens division look to put on a show and have a celebration fitting for a champion.
The event kicks off with Womens action at Zero Hour as Anna Jay and Deonna Purrazzo go head-to-head. Purrazzo who is accompanied by Taya Valkyrie have been in the head of Jay for the past few weeks now. After an unsuccessful attempt at Mariah Mays AEW Womens World Championship, Jay looks to win big here tonight.
Valkyrie attempts to get involved at the start of the match, but Jay looks to beat the numbers game. Jay gets some offense in, but Valkyrie finally gets her hands on her in part due to a distracted referee. Purrazzo manages to take advantage, but Jay powers through.
The two begin to trade blows as Jay looks to fire up. Purazzo attempts to lock in a Fujiwara Armbar, but Jay escapes and catches Purrazzo on the ropes. Valkyrie gets involved again and the referee sends her packing to the back. With a beaten-up Jay, Purrazzo looks to lock in the Venus de Milo for good, but Jay manages to roll her up for the win.
Backstage, the TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Womens Champion, Mercedes Mon is backstage with Kamille. The CEO is beyond disappointed at The Brickhouses performance for the last couple of weeks. So Mon tells her that she can stay in catering tonight, as she handles business with Kris Statlander.
As we start the main show, Statlander has had Mons number for a while now. Despite The CEO trying to take her out through unconventional methods, tonight on Full Gear she looks to claim what she once held, once and for all.
Mon arrives with a huge dose of confidence and shiny new gear to prove it, but Statlander has come for a fight and puts her power on display immediately. The CEO is quick to remind the crowd however about her ring prowess and sends Statlander spilling on the outside.
With a couple of Meteoras, Statlander has a hard time finding her footing but Mon cant seem to put her down. Mon goes for the Meteoras so often in fact, that Statlander finally manages to counter.
Statlander hits an impressive Rolling German Suplex on Mon. The CEO is set up on the top rope and Statlander tries to spring up on her but, Mon manages to catch her with a meteora. The power of Statlander proves to be so much as she lands a heavy lariat on her.
This is Awesome chants fill the arena, and Statlander tries to Powerslam her, but Mon counters into a DDT. The crowd is on Statlanders side, and Mon has had enough as she hits the Three Amigos. In the spirit of Latino Heat, Mon goes for a Frog Splash, but Statlander catches her and drives her into the mat for a 2-and-a half count.
Statlander looks to finish with the 450 splash, but her knee is driven into the mat. Mon targets the knee viciously and lands a Frog Splash on it. The CEO hits a course of Backstabbers into a Mon Maker, but Statlander miraculously kicks out.
Through sheer will, Statlander tries to set up a piledriver, but through just adrenaline alone Mon bites her way out of harms-way and propels Statlander to the ropes. An exhausted Mon rolls her up, and an unsuccessful Statlander is carried to the back.
Despite having won the AEW Womens World Championship four months ago at All In, Mariah May looks to finally have her champagne championship celebration tonight along with her Rose Gold tag partner, Stardoms Mina Shirakawa.
Sporting a matching black dress and a black eye, Mariah May boasts and says not a single woman alive can touch her. May says she couldnt have done this without Shirakawa and finally toast.
However, The Evil Glamour has other plans and it seems pretty clear that May has intentions to break the head open of Shirakawa with the champagne bottle. Shirakawa feeling betrayed, knocks it out of her hands and spears May off the stage and into a table. Shirakawa is bloodied from the mouth and has gone manic. Rose Gold is no longer more.
