AEW Full Gear 2024 finally arrived after the companys November to Remember build toward the event. The pay-per-view took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, which hosted its second annual Full Gear show after they held the 2022 show in the same venue.
This match got started with a bang as Orange Cassidy jumped Jon Moxley before the bell with three Orange Punches, and then they took things outside the ring. Freshly Squeezed was relentless in this match as he applied some serious punishment to the Paradigm Shift. Then the match continued with Moxley fighting back as the action spilled into the crowd.
Orange Cassidy eventually bled from the forehead, marking the first instance of blood during a match on the show. The brutality continued with Moxley taking control of the match while Freshly Squeezed didnt back down, even when Jon Moxley literally scratched the skin off his back. The finish came after Marina Shafir left her briefcase in the ring, so Orange Cassidy nailed Moxley with the case, but he kicked out at two. Then Wheeler Yuta ran in the ring and hit OC with a running knee before Moxley hit a Death Rider for the win.
This match closed out the Full Gear 2024 show, as the Death Riders arrived in a truck in the parking lot just before the contest. The Death Riders were alongside Jon Moxley for this match, as the menacing stable didnt care who got in their way.
This title match included a few angry promos from Jon Moxley, including one where he promised to make Orange Cassidy abandon all hope at the pay-per-view. Needless to say, chaos erupted the moment Mox accepted this match.
Orange Cassidy got his shot at Jon Moxleys AEW World Title at Full Gear 2024, and fans were more than ready for this match when it finally rolled around. The Death Riders were an obvious X-Factor in the situation, but Freshly Squeezed had the Conglomeration behind him.
Fans were surprised when Swerve Strickland dropped the AEW World Title to Bryan Danielson at All In 2024. His reign was fun, but it ended at WrestleDream 2024, as Danielson lost to Jon Moxley, dropping his title and getting suffocated in the process. Since then, Moxley has been on quite a tear.
There was once a time, after Orange Cassidys 2019 signing, that AEW was warned that they may lose fans due to Orange Cassidys unconventional move set, consisting of slow-motion and light leg kicks. A short time later, Tony Khan praised OCs genius. He will have to keep chasing the AEW World Title, because Full Gear 2024 wasnt his night.
