Ricochet has been part of the AEW family for a few months, and fans are often amazed by his high-flying, exciting in-ring style. However, not everyone is a fan of his approach, and Ricochet has admitted that he doesnt understand why some people dont like his wrestling style.
While speaking on Q101, Ricochet admitted that does not understand why people criticize his wrestling style. He focuses on precision and awareness, inspired by Dragon Gate. He looks at things like accuracy, clean execution, proper footing, spacing, timing, and how natural everything looks in the ring. Ricochet enjoys exciting high-flying moves and believes more can be more if it looks good and makes sense.
Ricochet agrees that sometimes less is more, but that doesnt mean his style is wrong. He respects other styles and knows they work because legends have proven their success. However, he simply doesnt understand when people dislike a style so much, they feel the need to speak out against it and get emotional. He notes that respected wrestlers like AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, or Chris Jericho dont criticize others for doing too much in the ring.
For Ricochet, professional wrestling is about doing what he loves, and even after 21 years, his style continues to evolve. However, at its core, its still the kind of wrestling he enjoys most.
Ricochet also aims to create art with his style of professional wrestling. At the end of the day, Ricochet is a perfectionist and he is welcome to all styles of wrestling but he simply prefers his high-flying style and many fans feel he has every right to wrestle the way he wants to.
