Welcome to Wrestling Inc.'s live coverage for "AEW Dynamite" on November 27, 2024, coming to you live from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois!
Chris Jericho will be putting the Ring of Honor World Championship on the line for the first time since dethroning Mark Briscoe in a Ladder War on the October 23 edition of "Dynamite" as he defends against Tomohiro Ishii. Not only did Ishii unsuccessfully challenge Jericho for the title during his first reign on the November 23, 2022 episode of "Dynamite", but the two men came face-to-face during last week's edition of the show when Ishii made sure Jericho signed the contract for tonight's match despite the latter trying to get out of putting pen-to-paper.
The 2024 Continental Classic kicks off tonight, as The Hurt Syndicate's Shelton Benjamin goes one-on-one with the aforementioned Mark in a Blue League Match, while Ricochet goes head-to-head with one third of the reigning AEW World Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli and Brody King squares off with archrival Darby Allin in a pair of Gold League Matches. While Kazuchika Okada currently holds the Continental Championship, it will be on the line in the Continental Classic as the two people who score the most points in each league over the course of the coming weeks will secure the right to face each other. The winner of the match will be crowned the Continental Champion at AEW Worlds End, although whether Okada will be featured remains to be seen.
We are live! The show kicks off with a video recapping the events of AEW Full Gear this past Saturday.
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinness then greet audiences at home as The Hurt Syndicate make their way out to the ring. MVP says he's standing between two of the best athletes in the world between Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. He says when he offers his business card, it's an opportunity for wrestlers to change their life. He says smart wrestlers will accept while wrestlers who choose not to end up like Swerve Strickland did at Full Gear courtesy of Lashley. He then calls Lashley the most dangerous man in AEW and a walking armageddon.
Mark Briscoe then makes his way down to the ring.
The bell rings and Benjamin levels Mark with a shoulder tackle. He sends him crashing into the mat spine first, then fires off a couple right hands on him and sends him crashing out of the ring. He connects with a kick through the ropes, then sends him crashing into the ring steps. Mark sends Benjamin crashing into the ring post, then flies through the ropes to level Benjamin on the outside and connects with a chop. He dumps Benjamin back in the ring and ascends to the top, but Benjamin meets him up there and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex.
Back from the break, Benjamin drags Mark into the corner and fires off right hands on him. Mark makes his way up to his feet, then fires off right hands of his own on Benjamin. He sends Benjamin crashing into the mat with a Death Valley Driver, then ascends to the top and connects with a pair of elbow drops. Benjamin responds with a German suplex to Mark, but Mark responds with a kick to Benjamin's head. Benjamin connects with one of his own. Benjamin levels Mark with another kick, then sends him crashing into the mat with a modified belly-to-belly suplex for the win.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Schiavone introduces Mone and she makes her way down to the ring alongside Kamille. Mone demands that Chicago say hello to their CEO, then says it feels like money to have competed in the longest women's match in AEW on Saturday against Kris Statlander after being asked by Schiavone. Mone continues to gloat and looks to fire Kamille for not doing her job right, but Kamille grabs the mic from her and says Mone can't fire her because she's quit.
Chris Jericho, Bryan Keith, and BigBill then make their way out to the ring. Tomohiro Ishii follow.
