Big changes could be in store for Monday Night Raw as the flagship WWE show prepares for its Netflix debut on January 6, 2025. After cutting back to a two-hour format for the final months on the USA Network, WWE is now considering a return to its three-hour broadcast when the show moves to the streaming giant.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the Netflix move offers WWE significant flexibility with run times, as the platform doesnt require a strict weekly schedule. Meltzer explained, Originally, because with Netflix, they dont have a time they have to hit each week, WWE saw the potential to adjust episode lengths depending on creative needs.
However, its not all smooth sailing. International broadcasting deals, which demand consistent formatting, could complicate the return to a three-hour format. There are discussions going on regarding having a firm time each week and how to handle the advertising aspect given there would be a certain amount of ad time, and in theory, more for three hours than two hours, Meltzer noted.
Adding to the hype, WWE has announced that Grammy-winning rapper Travis Scott will appear on the Netflix premiere episode of Monday Night Raw, further emphasizing the companys commitment to delivering blockbuster entertainment on its new platform.
With WWE exploring new possibilities and challenges in the streaming era, fans are eager to see whether the return to three hours will enhance the show or reignite debates about pacing and filler content.
