AEW star Britt Baker has been making waves outside the wrestling ring with her recent appearance in Cobra Kai Season 6. The dentist-turned-wrestler played Oksana, a Russian sensei from the Tiger Strike dojo competing in the Sekai Taikai tournament. While her performance was widely praised, it seems AEW missed an opportunity to build on her Hollywood success.
During the Q&A portion of Fightful Selects podcast, Sean Ross Sapp indicated that AEW initially may have had plans to capitalize on Bakers Cobra Kai appearance but ran into scheduling issues. I do know that they had a few scheduling conflicts over the last couple of months and that she was sick. I dont know if there were specific efforts on that point, but I know that they did have some plans for her that didnt end up happening, Sapp explained.
Baker landed the role after meeting Cobra Kai writer Hayden Schlossberg at the Season 4 premiere, where she expressed her love for the show and interest in being involved. I met one of the writers, Hayden, and I was like, Oh my gosh, Im Britt, she recalled. He recognized me from social media. I kind of joked, but not joking, If you ever need anything, Im a huge fan and would love to be involved.
Her persistence paid off when Schlossberg offered her the role, citing her never give up attitude as a perfect fit for the shows ethos. While Baker was thrilled to join the cast, she admitted she hadnt watched her episode yet. I want to wait for all of it to come out so I can watch it all! she said.
Despite AEW not fully leveraging her role, Bakers debut in the popular Netflix series has left fans wondering if this is just the beginning of her Hollywood journey. With her undeniable charisma and versatility, the door seems wide open for more acting opportunities.
