And speaking of women's tennis, former Australian tennis star Ashleigh Barty expressed her opinion regarding the ceremony organized by the Davis Cup Finals board for Rafael Nadal's farewell.
Two people very close to the Spanish legend (his uncle Toni and his coach Carlos Moya - ed.) have in fact expressed their harsh point of view on a tribute judged not up to expectations. The time certainly didn't help the organizers, because the Davis Cup semifinals between Spain and the Netherlands ended in the decisive doubles and after midnight. Barty, on the other hand, seemed to appreciate the way Nadal was celebrated.
"I love Rafa and I liked the way he retired. He wanted to represent Spain and finish in a team environment. That was my dream: I wanted to retire representing Australia in Fed Cup. I know that feeling of celebrating your career with the people you love. It was a beautiful celebration for him and his career. So many tributes from players and also other athletes from all over the world. It showed the positive impact he had on the sport and on people's lives in general," explained the former WTA No.1 to CodeSports
