WWE President Nick Khan is setting the record straight about the future of Raw as it prepares to debut on Netflix. During the WWE-Netflix media event this week, Khan addressed speculation that the shows TV-14 rating on the streaming platform hinted at a return to edgier, Attitude Era-style content. The answer? A hard no.

Were not changing the rating of our programming, Khan clarified. Theres some online chatter about, oh, its gonna be R-rated, or for us old folks, like X-rated. Thats definitely not happening. WWE will remain family-friendly, multi-generational, [and] advertiser-friendly, according to the president.

However, fans might still notice one subtle change. Wrestling Observer Lives Bryan Alvarez shed light on a potential shift in how WWE handles audience reactions. Im probably about 99 percent sure the one thing you will see different when they go to Netflix is less bleeping out of crowd chants, Alvarez shared.

The move to Netflix could allow WWE to take a more relaxed stance on censoring profanities from live crowdsa source of frustration for the company in recent years. Alvarez explained that earlier discussions about a TV-14 rating were less about on-screen content and more about alleviating censorship issues.

Theres not gonna be any naked women or whatever you saw back in the 90s, Alvarez assured. But they hate having to completely bleep and silence the crowd when they chant profanities. I think on Netflix, that will end. As far as the rest of it, its gonna be just like it is right now.

The first WWE Raw on Netflix happens on January 6, 2025, and its expected to be presented like a premium live event, featuring major stars and a stacked card.

What do you think about WWEs move to Netflix? Do you support a more relaxed approach to crowd chants, or do you want Raw to go back to its Attitude Era roots? Let us know in the comments!
