Manchester United are planning a financially rewarding post-season tour of Malaysia that could see them earn �7.96m in revenue.
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United participated in an increasingly common post-season tour at the end of 2023/24, facing one another in Melbourne, Australia just three days after the end of the Premier League campaign.
According to The Athletic, Man Utd are planning to do similar following the climax of the current campaign and will travel to Malaysia in a bid to maximise profits and comply with both the Premier League and UEFA's financial fair play regulations.
Plans are still being formalised and any friendly opponents are currently unknown, but the Red Devils will visit Malaysia immediately after the end of the current season. The final round of Premier League matches will take place on 25 May, with both the Europa League and FA Cup final coming prior to the top flight's conclusion. Ruben Amorim's side will host Aston Villa on the final day.
Man Utd have many players likely to feature in international matches during the June break but the post-season tour will conclude before those fixtures are played. The Red Devils are also not competing in the revamped and expanded FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off in mid-June.
Australian-based company TEG Sports, along with a local Malaysian promoter, are helping organise the trip, with Man Utd club sources revealing that no plans have been finalised as things stand.
Man Utd have been desperately searching for ways to cut costs and raise funds since the arrival of minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has even cancelled the club's annual Christmas party for 2024 in an attempt to reduce expenditures.
Ratcliffe recently increased his stake in Man Utd with a fresh cash injection, investing �79m into the club that saw his ownership stake rise to 28.94%.
