Michin, who was previously known as Mia Yim during her earlier WWE run, had her name changed when she returned in 2022. She has now explained the reason behind her name getting changed and fans would likely relate to the reason as well.
While speaking to The Wrestling Classic, Michin explained the reason behind her decision to change her name from Mia Yim to Michin. She explained that when she joined The OC, they encouraged her to have a nickname as part of the group. Michin is a name that has been special to her since childhood, given to her by her mom, who would call her and her sister crazy in a playful way.
While shes open to returning to the name Mia Yim, Michin holds a deeper meaning for her, especially because it connects to her Korean heritage. She explained that wrestling is not as popular in Korea, so she wanted to use her platform to highlight her ethnicity. Whether its wearing her varsity jacket from Virginia Union or adopting the name Michin, she sees it as a way to shows her background and honor her mothers influence.
Regardless, Michin is clearly happy with her current name and plans to stick with it for as long as she wants to and fans respect her wish, as she ultimately has a deep personal connection to the name.
