Mr. Kennedy had a promising future in WWE and was even supposed to defeat The Undertaker to win the World Title. However, that never happened, and he was eventually released. Even then, his feud with The Undertaker is still remembered by fans and now Kennedy has revealed how Vince McMahon reacted to a big production botch during one of his matches with The Deadman.
While speaking toRewind Recap Relive, Mr. Kennedy revealed a story about Vince McMahons reaction to a huge botch during his Last Ride Match with The Undertaker at Armageddon 2006.
Before the match, the team was planning how to make it exciting. Michael Hayes suggested Kennedy take a chokeslam off a big scaffolding near the entryway. When Vince McMahon joined the discussion, he said it would look better if The Undertaker took the bump instead and The Undertaker wasnt too happy about it. Vince then told The Deadman about jumping off the scaffolding himself before they decided Kennedy would throw The Undertaker off it.
To make it safe, crash pads were hidden behind barricades so the fans couldnt see them. However, during the live show, a camera accidentally zoomed in and showed The Undertaker lying on the pads for too long. Kennedy noted that Vince McMahon was furious about the production botch and yelled at the production team to change the camera angle. Unfortunately, the mistake made it to the broadcast, ruining the illusion.
Vince McMahon demanded perfection in matches, so its understandable that he was upset when a production error overshadowed what was otherwise a solid match between Mr. Kennedy and The Undertaker. Nonetheless, fans can see why McMahon would react strongly to such a mistake, given his high standards for WWE events at the time.
