Bandidos long-awaited return to the ring took an unfortunate turn. The AEW star made his first televised appearance in 18 months during ROH Final Battle on December 20, stepping into the spotlight after a series of vignettes teased his comeback.
After Chris Jericho successfully defended his ROH World Championship against Matt Cardona, Bandido stormed the ring to save Cardona from a three-on-one assault involving Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith. However, the night ended on a sour note for the returning star.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Bandido suffered a concussion during the post-match melee. Meltzer explained, We are told Bandido did suffer a concussion Friday night from landing on the back of his head doing a missile dropkick after the Chris Jericho win over Matt Cardona.
This marks another unfortunate setback for Bandido, who had been sidelined since June 2023 with a severe wrist injury that required two surgeries. His absence had kept him out of action since a match against Konosuke Takeshita on AEW Rampage.
While Jericho vs. Bandido was reportedly being set up for an eventual ROH World Title match, Meltzer noted that concussion recovery times are unpredictable, leaving Bandidos immediate future in question.
Wed like to extend our best wishes to Bandido as he recovers from this latest injury.
