British tennis player Jodie Burrage says it was Emma Raducanu who played a role in her decision to undergo surgery on her wrist this year.

Shortly reaching a career-high ranking of No. 84 in March, the 25-year-old started dealing with wrist issues.

Initially, the Briton attempted to continue playing through the injury. But after picking up a couple of early exits, she went under the knife in May.

Before making that decision, Burrage reached out to Raducanu. If you remember well, the 2021 US Open battled wrist issues for quite some time before ultimately having surgeries on both wrists in 2023 May.

So when her fellow compatriot asked her for advice, the former world No. 10 pretty much said that delaying the surgery would do more harm than good.

Burrage: Raducanu told me she tried to avoid surgery but ended up having one

Me and Boults(Katie Boulter) have had conversations before with injuries. Ive been through my fair share of ankle [injuries]. Thats where it was good to chat with Emma about wrist injuries because thats what shes had before," the current world No. 175 told Express-Sport.

Obviously we had very different injuries. But I remember chatting to her about whether I should get surgery or not and she tried not to and ended up getting surgery so it was good that I chose surgery first and didnt kind of waste time."

After being sidelined for five months, Burrage returned to action in late 2024 and appeared in a couple of ITF tournaments.

And the British tennis player had some success on the lower-tier - winning one title - finishing once as a runner-up - and making two semifinals.

Although she is currently ranked well-outside the top-100, she is still set to play at the Australian Open because she has a protected ranking to use.

Earlier this year, Burrage suffered a first-round loss in her Australian Open main draw debut.
