Football transfer rumours: Man Utd & Arsenal face competition for Cunha; Liverpool given Alexander-Arnold boost
The coming year will bring many challenges for Scottie Scheffler, the golfer who did magical things on the golf scene last year. Achieving 7 wins on the PGA Tour and winning the Olympics is a record that few can boast of.

Although some expected the 28-year-old to start the new season furiously, wanting to make equal records, it seems that the situation will be somewhat different. Namely, Scheffler's manager, Blake Smith, confirmed that the American golfer will not play at The Sentry due to the injury he received after pieces of glass ended up in the palm. Scheffler will be out for three to four weeks.
On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass, Schefflers manager, Blake Smith, said.
Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100% in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express.

The popular golfer is certainly not happy with this outcome, especially because his appetites and ambitions are even greater after a great season behind him. Of course, in these moments, Scottie will have to remain patient and believe that he will recover as soon as possible.
Although he did not put an accent specifically on 2025, Scottie will certainly look for new successes, wanting to break records on the golf scene. Repeating the previous season is considered by many to be impossible, but not the American golfer. Looking at his performances in the previous season, as well as the season behind us, one can feel how mentally strong Scottie is as a golfer.
The world number one rounded off the season in a great way, winning the PGA Tour Player of the Year award. Scottie Scheffler got the trust of his colleagues as well, who mostly voted for him as the best player this season. The majority had no doubts whether the 28-year-old would win this award, especially after a season like Tiger Woods had only before him.

Scheffler thanked his colleagues who recognized his efforts and qualities this year. Many are asking the question of whether the talented golfer will be as impressive in the coming years as he was this year. Do you think that the 28-year-old can really keep in shape in 2025? That would certainly make him even bigger in the eyes of the golf public.
I just feel like the players kind of know the body of work and to get their support and their vote on this award is really special just because we're competing against each other week in and week out. I just feel like getting their vote is pretty cool."- he said.
Rory McIlroy as the main competitor
Golf fans expect that his biggest competition will be Rory McIlroy, as well as Xander Schauffele, who are looking for success in 2025, wanting to dethrone Scheffler. In November of this year, McIlroy stressed that Schauffele and Scheffler were miles ahead of others this year, but that is the motive for him to spoil their plans in 2025.

Theyve definitely separated themselves from the rest this year, McIlroy said. Im obviously very aware of that, and it just makes me more motivated to try to emulate what they did this year.
The Northern Irishman is not particularly impressed with some moments during this season, but he has no doubt that he can pick up the pace and be equally successful next year. The 34-year-old is satisfied with the consistency, aware that he could have done much more.
McIlroy has had no luck in multiple tournaments this year, which deepens the frustration of this impressive golfer. Next year could be quite a different story, especially since golfers detect Scheffler as the biggest threat. He could be a huge motivation for everyone to raise the level.
Unbelievably consistent again, he said.

I think Ive been very proud of that over the last few years. But at the same time you think about those who escaped. I could be sitting here with a fifth major title, but thats not the case.
So that stings and thats something I have to come to terms with, but at the same time I have a lot more opportunities in the future.
Do you think that next year Scheffler and Rory will lead the main battle on the golf scene, or will some other names be included in the race for the first place on the OWGR list? It is certain that both of them have great foundations for such a feat, but fans still favor the 28-year-old golfer.
