Tony Khan always makes it clear that he feels AEW is direct competition to WWE, which is why it wasnt a surprise when WWE decided to hold a Holiday Tour live event on the same day as AEW Worlds End and now Tony Khan has addressed WWEs strategy for the same.
While speaking during thepost-AEW Worlds End media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about WWE holding their Holiday Tour live event in Orlando, Florida, on the same night as AEW Worlds End. This is because Worlds End took place in Orlando at the Addition Financial Arena, while the WWE live event was held at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida.
Khan stated that it was great for the city to have two big wrestling events on the same night, with thousands of fans at both shows. AEW had a packed crowd, and he thanked the University of Central Florida and the arena for being great hosts. He also thanked the Orlando fans for their support and said the night showed how strong pro wrestling is in the U.S.
Many believe that WWEmade this move to crush AEW, but Tony Khan clearly sees it differently as he welcomes all forms of competition since it helps professional wrestling as a whole. Therefore, well have to wait and see if AEW and WWE will run events against each other in the future again.
