The Wrestle Dynasty pay-per-view event has a ton of hype behind it since it will feature professional wrestlers from various companies like AEW, NJPW, CMLL and STARDOM. Unfortunately, it appears that quite a few AEW stars will not be competing at the event due to scheduling conflicts.
Some fans feel that the card lacks enough AEW star power, but several big names will be competing, such as Willow Nightingale, ROH Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara, Konosuke Takeshita, Jack Perry, Claudio Castagnoli, Brody King, Womens Champion Mercedes Mone, and The Young Bucks.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, NJPW wanted to feature more talent at Wrestle Dynasty, but many were already scheduled for AEWs Collision event on the same day. On top of that, the talent scheduled for the event is expected to leave on January 1st.
Despite the lack of several AEW talent, the event will still feature major matches, including Kenny Omegas in-ring return against Gabe Kidd, Zack Sabre Jr. facing Ricochet, and a NEVER Openweight Title bout.
While its unfortunate that not all of AEWs top stars will be competing, Wrestle Dynasty is shaping up to be a monumental event with a packed card full of incredible talent. With so much still on the line, this event will definitely be one to remember on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan.
