Ricky Starks has been at the center of speculation following his abrupt disappearance from AEW television after losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships with Big Bill. While Starks himself described the situation as a mindf**k in a recent interview, AEW producer and ECW legend Jerry Lynn had some pointed words about Starks airing his grievances publicly.
Speaking with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Lynn didnt mince words about the former champions decision to discuss his AEW absence. I cant speak for him and why he did it, but years ago, when it was just the sheets, a lot of the guys would leak info and stuff so they would get talked about more favorably in their matches, Lynn explained. And now, I think a lot of it is getting attention.
Lynn also criticized the growing trend of wrestlers seeking attention outside the ring by publicly airing issues with their employers. Now we look like just a bunch of immature children, he said. Wrestling is the best job in the world, its supposed to be fun. If its not fun, were doing something wrong.
The veteran producer urged wrestlers to focus on building up the industry rather than tearing it down, calling the drama unnecessary and counterproductive. Meanwhile, AEW President Tony Khan hinted that fans may not have seen the last of Starks, teasing a potential return for the AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen event in January 2024.
