Alexandre Victor Schauffele, commonly known as Xander Schauffele (pronounced [zndr_fli] ZAN-dr SHAW-f-lee), born October 25, 1993, is an American professional golfer playing on the PGA Tour.

Schauffele was born in La Jolla, California, to a naturalized French-German immigrant father from Alsace and Baden-Wrttemberg, and a naturalized Taiwanese/Japanese mother. Schauffele's father was his sole coach throughout his golf career. Schauffele's teaching philosophy relied heavily on the laws of ball flight and golf club mechanics - with the result that Schauffele was unable to develop his own swing until he was about 18 years old.

Schauffele's two great-grandfathers were European-level soccer players. Johann Hoffmann played for the Austrian national soccer team and won several national titles: Austrian (SK Rapid Wien), Bohemian (DSV Saaz), and French (FC Sochaux; Racing Club de Strasbourg). In addition to playing in the German Bundesliga for VFB Stuttgart, Richardexcelled in athletics, collecting over 40 titles in the discus, javelin, and shot put for two clubs, Stuttgarter Kickers and Cannstatter Ruder-Club.

In 2011, he won the California State High School Championship (CIF), playing for Scripps Ranch High School3. After graduating from high school, he played his freshman year at California State University, Long Beach, where he earned the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 2012 and was named First Team All-Big West in 2012.

As a sophomore, he transferred to San Diego State University (SDSU), where he would eventually play his collegiate career. During his three years at SDSU, Schauffele was a Golfweek Third Team All-American. He is a two-time winner of the Mountain West Conference All-Academic Team Award. At SDSU, he holds the all-time records for lowest tournament score against par (-17); all-time career scoring average (71.50); and his season-high par-5[What?] of 4.5135, 171 birdies, and nine eagles.
