Today Carlos Alcaraz, the one who seems to be Jannik Sinner's real rival in the race for the title at the Australian Open 2025, took to the court.
The Spaniard worked hard during the pre-season, focusing in particular on the ability to stay focused throughout the entire match. The first outings, however, did not go very well. Alcaraz lost the practice set played against Novak Djokovic on the Rod Laver Arena and also the exhibition match with Alex de Minaur, at the Opening Week of the Happy Slam.
The Australian played the final super tie-break better, beating him with the score of 7-5, 4-6, 10-5. These are obviously not very indicative results but they could still prove to be fundamental for Carlitos, ready to put himself on the line to complete his personal Career Grand Slam.
The Opening Week of the Australian Open offers the chance for some of the best tennis players to test their form in preparation for the start of the first Major of the season. Yesterday it was Jannik's job to entertain the crowd and face the home player Alexei Popyrin. The world number 1 obtained a victory, albeit unofficial, on the road to the Happy Slam and won 6-4, 7-6(2).

We recall Sinner will defend a Major title for the first time in his career. Carlitos, on the other hand, aims to win the Australian Open to complete the Career Grand Slam at just 21 years old. Also Novak Djokovic has great ambitions in Melbourne: he is looking for bith his 25th Major and his 100th title of his glorious career.
