Fulham are in FA Cup third round action on Thursday as they take on Watford at Craven Cottage.

Marco Silva's side are sitting in the top half of the Premier League table beyond the halfway mark, but they were left frustrated by only claiming a point against Ipswich Town last time out.

Still, the Cottagers have proven to be a tough out for the division's best this term, with Liverpool and Arsenal among the teams to drop points to the west Londoners.

They've typically succumbed in the fourth-round in the competition in recent years, with their previous defeat at this earlier stage arriving in 2019.

Watford have an excellent record against their upcoming opponents, but they head into Thursday's cup tie in pretty wretched form, having initially made a strong start to the Championship season. The Hornets have dropped down to ninth after losing four of their previous five games.

They've also had plenty of third round trouble since a chastening final defeat to Manchester City in 2019.

Here is 90min's guide to Fulham vs Watford in the FA Cup third round.

Fulham team news

Silva is bound to shuffle his pack from Sunday's draw with Ipswich. Raul Jimenez, who salvaged a point for the Cottagers, is among those expected to earn a rest.

Silva has Rodrigo Muniz, who's so far failed to build on his breakout 2023/24 campaign, in reserve. He'll be keen to get on the scoresheet here.

Reiss Nelson and Kenny Tete won't be back until February at the earliest due to respective hamstring and knee injuries, but Sander Berge has a chance of making his comeback from an ankle issue on Thrusday. Harrison Reed remains sidelined.

Watford team news

Watford are without starting goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann for the long haul due to an ankle ligament injury, so Jonathan Bond should get the nod between the sticks for the foreseeable.

There's likely to be less rotation from the visitors compared to their hosts, but there's bound to be some shuffling from manager Tom Cleverley. Experienced trio Moussa Sissoko, Ryan Porteous and Tom Ince could all come into Watford's 3-5-2, while Vakoun Issouf Bayo could be added up top.

Kevin Keben is out, but Tom Dele-Bashiru may be in contention having recovered from a knee injury.

Fulham vs Watford score prediction

Watford's wretched form doesn't bode well entering Thursday's game, with Fulham losing just twice at the Cottage in the Premier League this term. While European football is a possibility, Silva will doubtlessly be taking this competition seriously.

The FA Cup presents the Hornets with some respite from unrelenting Championship action, and they should be cometitive here. Fulham's likely reshuffle opens the door, and the return of Watford's experienced pros should aid them against superior opposition.

This may be a back and forth cup tie which the Premier League side escapes from.

Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Watford
