Malakai Blacks time with AEW could be coming to a close, as recent events on AEW Dynamite have sparked speculation about his future with the company.
On this weeks episode, Will Ospreay defeated Buddy Matthews and made a pointed comment encouraging Matthews to step out of the shadow of Malakai Black, leading many to question Blacks status in AEW.
According to Fightful Select, sources within the company have suggested that Black may be finishing up with AEW, though its unclear if hell make another TV appearance. Those that we spoke to in the company were of the belief that he was finishing up with AEW if he hadnt already, one source said. However, there was no official confirmation on whether Black had already left or if his status would be addressed on screen.
Earlier reports indicated that AEW had option years in Blacks contract after 2025, and while Tony Khan previously noted that Black was under contract with AEW until 2027, the specifics of his deal remain unclear. Its not confirmed whether any options have been picked up, declined, or if theres been any movement on that front.
For now, Black is still listed on AEWs official website, but with the rumors swirling, it remains to be seen how his time in the company will unfold in the coming weeks.
