Novak Djokovic is ready to start the 2025 Australian Open and hopes that this tournament will bring him luck as in the past. The Serbian legend is not the top favorite to win this year's edition, but that doesn't mean opponents can afford to underestimate a player who has won ten times at Melbourne Park and who will be looking to grab the 25th Major title of his career.

The former world number 1 will not have an easy path to the AO and will have to prove to the whole world that he can still be competitive at the highest level, despite turning 38 in a short time. The 24-time Grand Slam champion knows that he will have to come up with something new to win this tournament and it is also for this reason that he has decided to hire Andy Murray as his new coach.

The two legends have only recently started working together, but they seem to get along very well together as the understanding is growing as the days go by. In his first official tournament of 2025 in Brisbane, the current world number 7 was defeated by American ace Reilly Opelka in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic can win in Melbourne

Nole has been working hard in recent weeks and hopes to go far in Melbourne, but he will focus match by match to avoid wasting precious energies.

In a recent interview with Eurosport, former World No.1 Mats Wilander spoke about Novaks chances at the 2025 AO: I watched the match against Opelka and Novak looked really good physically and I think emotionally he will be much more into it at the Australian Open.

I think Andy Murray would tell him the exact same thing because he has gone through all those emotions playing smaller tournaments and then trying to get fired up for Wimbledon towards the end of his career and thats much easier. I think Novak is in a good place.

Mats also added: I think Novak can get really close to winning in Australia. I think he can get close to winning at Wimbledon as well.

I think hes got a really, really good shot at winning at least one major this year, and I would think Australia is the one that he most probably has a better chance, other than Wimbledon.
