The ATP number 1, after the triumphant season just passed, will open the new year trying to replicate last year's triumph in Melbourne. His race towards the third Major of his career will begin with the challenge against the Chilean Nicolas Jarry, the opponent drawn in the first round to face the 23-year-old Italian.
A draw that hides several pitfalls in Sinner's path towards a possible final against Carlos Alcaraz or Novak Djokovic. Considering that on his path there is a possible derby with Matteo Berrettini in the round of 16, the quarterfinals with Stefanos Tsitsipas or Alex De Minaur and a potential semifinal with Daniil Medvedev, which would represent the replay of last year's final.
The Italian champion, together with the world number 1 of WTA tennis and reigning champion at the Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenka, attended the draw of the main draw, releasing a few words in view of the debut.

Sinner, who arrived together with the Belarusian tennis player with the cups won last year in his hands, said: "It's a slightly different feeling compared to last year, but we are all very happy to start the season here in Australia, where there are so many beautiful people. It's called the Happy Slam for a reason."
