Nick Kyrgios should be able to play the Australian Open 2025, both in singles and doubles, with his countryman Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The recent training sessions on the Melbourne courts should have cleared up any doubts and, in the Happy Slam media day, the 29-year-old Australian revealed how he feels, after wrist problems and a pulled abdominal muscle.

"I went home for a couple of days and trained a bit more, then I felt something in my abdomen. This morning I felt pretty good out there. I still have three days before the tournament starts, I'll take it day by day. I'm enjoying every moment of being part of the tournament, walking through the dressing room, seeing everyone again. These have been very emotional weeks for me and I really enjoy being back," he said.

The question about the recent doping cases was of course not long in coming: "I don't want to talk too much about it. I feel like it's the only thing that's been talked about in tennis in the last six weeks. I've had four tests in the last two months. The last one was three days ago at my house. It's never been an issue for me and I've been on Tour for over 10 years, so I know I'm in control of everything that happens in my team and nothing will accidentally enter my body."

The Australian then spoke about how much his absence and the lack of his charismatic personality has weighed on the ATP Tour.

"We watch the sport because we want personality. What we like about tennis is the one-on-one aspect, I've always liked that. The fact that I'm back raises some questions about what's going to happen today. Every time I step out on court, I don't know if I'm going to create controversy for better or for worse. It's good that I'm back. It's important, because I think the sport was getting a bit boring," said Kyrgios.
