Nick Kyrgios thinks it is a great thing for tennis that he is back because the game started becoming "a bit mundane" while he was sidelined.

When the Australian Open starts on Sunday, the former world No. 13 will be making his first Grand Slam appearance since the 2022 US Open.
Although the 2022 Wimbledon finalist has just returned from wrist surgery, he has already made numerous headlines - mainly due to his very outspoken views regarding the Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner doping cases.
While some of his comments faced some big criticism and backlash, one thing is for sure - Kyrgios doesn't regret and there are no indications that he will stop expressing himself in the way he feels or wants.
In his Australian Open pre-tournament presser, he suggested that tennis was lacking personalities but that his return would help in that department.
Kyrgios: I think the sport was getting a bit mundane
"For me being personally back, I think it adds a bit of question marks to like what is going to happen today. I love that. Every time I step out on court, I don't know if I'm going to be super controversial in a good or bad way," the 29-year-old explained.

"Throughout my career, it hasn't always been good, but it's added a lot of excitement to the game. I think it's important.
"There's so many good players on the tour now. I think there's not so many contrasting personalities... I think it's good to be back. I think it's important. I think the sport was getting a bit mundane."
After feeling his wrist in his Brisbane return, Kyrgios indicated that he may not play the Australian Open.
Speaking to reporters in Melbourne, he also revealed that he has been feeling a bit abdomen in the last couple of days.
However, Kyrgios remains hopeful that the next few days will go well and that he will be able to take on Jacob Fearnley in the Australian Open first round.
