World No. 20 Madison Keys has won the Adelaide International title in her debut after beating No. 1 seed Jessica Pegula in an all-American final 6-3 4-6 6-1.

Throughout the final, the unseeded American served pretty well, firing 10 aces and winning 73 percent of her first serve points.

While the No. 1 seed still managed to earn six break points and convert three, it wasn't enough as Keys had 12 break points and converted six of those chances.

For the 29-year-old, this is her ninth WTA title and the first one since winning Eastbourne during the grass season.

Also, the former world No. 7 now has a 2-1 head-to-head record against Pegula.

How Keys beat Pegula?

Early in the final, the world No. 20 opened a 2-0 lead but then lost the following games.

However, she didn't panic and responded with back-to-back breaks to claim four games in a row and take the first set in style.

After losing the last four games of the first set, the top-seeded American bounced back by winning the first four games of the second set.

While Keys managed to get one break back, the 30-year-old held on to her second break and managed to force a decider after serving out for the second set in the 10th game.

Through the first two games in the decider, the two players were tied to one game apiece.

Then, the unseeded Americanwent on a major run, collecting the next five games to complete her three-set win.

Meanwhile, the two American stars will now head to Melbourne for the Australian Open.

In her opener at Melbourne Park, the Adelaide champion will take on Ann Li.

On the other side, Pegula is set to start her Australian Open campaign by clashing against rising Australian star Maya Joint.
