For Jannik Sinner, the long wait begins around April 16 and 17, the days announced by the CAS for the hearings related to the Clostebol doping issue.
The verdict could take up to 48 hours after the hearing, but until then the fate of the young Italian will remain in the balance. The player has the right to ask for the decision to be notified immediately and to continue playing until the reasons are entered.
Now the name of the president appointed by the CAS of Lausanne is also known: the Luxembourger Jacques Radoux, a former tennis player, Davis Cup captain for the Luxembourg team from 2008 to 2013 and who was around the No.500 position in the ATP ranking.
Radoux studied Law in France, a legal secretary at the Court of Justice of the European Union, while since 2008 he has been in charge of the tennis section of Special Olympics Luxembourg.
Sinner tested positive twice for the substance prohibited by the regulation in March 2024, but the Independent Tribunal of the International Tennis Integrity Agency has established that an involuntary contamination occurred. The substance in question was in fact present in a drug used by his former trainer Giacomo Naldi for a finger injury and came into contact with him during a massage. The world number one has demonstrated his innocence, but WADA has decided to appeal to the CAS in Lausanne.
"I would be lying if I said I didn't think about what happened and that I forgot; it's something that has been with me for a few months now but right now we are in a phase where we don't know many things. I don't know much more than you do," said Jannik in the media day of the Australian Open 2025.
"The Court of Arbitration for Sport has scheduled the hearing for the arbitration procedure in the case between the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) and Jannik Sinner, as decided by the independent tribunal appointed by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (Itia), for 16 and 17 April 2025 at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. Since no interested party has requested a public hearing, this will be held behind closed doors," said CAS in a statement.
