Just as narratives surrounding an unthinkable relegation were beginning to surface, Manchester United offered competence.

The world expected a Liverpool trouncing at Anfield last Sunday, but a new and improved Red Devils gave as good as they got on Merseyside and were good value for their 2-2 draw.

United doubtlessly benefitted from the gap between games, and Amorim has enjoyed the first full week off since the November international break heading into Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie at Arsenal.

The Red Devils were set-pieced out of their previous meeting in north London, and will be keen to avenge December's defeat by piling the misery onto Mikel Arteta's side.

Here's how United could line up at the Emirates.

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Arsenal (3-4-2-1)

Andre Onana

GK: Andre Onana - While Onana has had his issues in United's goal, Altay Bayindir has done nothing to suggest he can be trusted on such a big occasion.

CB: Leny Yoro - Amorim ideally wouldn't change too much from the game against Liverpool, but Yoro is a strong contender to replace Matthijs de Ligt - a protagonist in both of the Reds' goals last weekend.

CB: Harry Maguire - Maguire's last-gasp miss at Anfield overshadowed another fine display from the Englishman. He'll be key in shunning Arsenal's set-pieces.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - After his horror showing against Newcastle, Martinez achieved some redemption last weekend. His performance on Merseyside depicted just how significant a role he could play in Amorim's project.

RWB: Amad Diallo - Noussair Mazraoui could do with a breather, with Amad, who only played the second half at the Emirates in December, dropping into a wing-back role where he starred at the start of the new manager's tenure.

CM: Manuel Ugarte - The scrappy Uruguayan is required in Amorim's pivot and heads into this game off the back of his best performance in a United shirt.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo - Chelsea-linked Mainoo hasn't set the world alight this term, but there have been signs in recent outings of the young midfielder matching the performance levels from his breakout campaign.

LWB: Diogo Dalot - Trent Alexander-Arnold made him look like a world-beater last weekend, but Dalot has a far sterner test matched up against Jurrien Timber on Sunday.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - United have always got a chance when Fernandes performs as he did against Liverpool. The Red Devils require their captain to step up on the big occasion consistently.

AM: Alejandro Garnacho - If Amorim opts for a change up top, he requires an alternate outlet in the frontline. Garnacho supplies the requisite enthusiasm and speed to trouble Arsenal's defence.

ST: Joshua Zirkzee - Rasmus Hojlund continues to fall flat under Amorim, potentially paving the way for Zirkzee to return just a couple of weeks after he was cheered off by supporters 30 minutes into the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle.
