Fresh off his victory over Seth Rollins in the WWE Raw main event on Netflixs premiere episode, CM Punk is already looking ahead to dream opponents he wishes he could face.
Appearing on NightCap with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco, Punk opened up about his ultimate fantasy matches, and one name stood out above all: Stone Cold Steve Austin.
One name always comes to mind, and thats Stone Cold Steve Austin, Punk revealed. Unfortunately, he had to retire because of injuries, and he had a stroke, but Bret Hart is another one. Bret Hart would be a dream for me because that is a guy I looked up to when I was a kid. Thats a guy that helped get me into this sport from an interest perspective. Punk expressed admiration for Harts willingness to offer advice, adding, I could text Bret right now and be like, Whats up? I have a question and need some advice. Hell hit me back right away. Much love to him.
When it comes to todays talent, Punk also has his sights set on current stars like Gunther and Cody Rhodes, but Austin remains his number one pick. As far as legends go, the ones that probably arent going to happen but are dream matches, Austin is number one with a bullet.
Punk and Austins paths have crossed before, most notably during a memorable on-screen segment on the June 13, 2011 episode of WWE Raw. While a match between them remains a fantasy, fans cant help but imagine the electricity it would bring to the ring.
