WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin has always been associated with his love for beer, since fans really cannot think of him without drinking some beer. In fact, Austin has now revealed why he prefers beer over marijuana.
While speaking to Wrestling Rambles, Steve Austin shared a story about why he prefers beer over marijuana. He talked about driving back and forth between Los Angeles and the Broken Skull Ranch, often passing through the Sierra Blanca checkpoint in West Texas. This checkpoint is famous for catching people with drugs, and many musicians, like Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg, have been stopped there.
One time, Austin decided to try a medicinal marijuana joint. Back then, marijuana wasnt fully legal in California, but you could get it for medical reasons. He thought it might be a good way to cut back on drinking alcohol, which he had always enjoyed. However, he never liked marijuana much in the past because it made him feel weird and overthink everything he said. Still, he wanted to give it another try.
The joint was small, about two grams, and kept in a prescription bottle in the bathroom of his RV. Despite being so small, it smelled really strong and filled the camper with its scent. As they got closer to Sierra Blanca, Austin started to worry. He knew the checkpoint had drug-sniffing dogs, and he didnt want to get caught. He felt anxious, thinking how bad it would be to ruin his reputation over one small joint.
When they reached the checkpoint, the guards recognized him because he had driven through there many times. Normally, he would say hello, but this time he stayed quiet and hoped they wouldnt notice anything. Luckily, the guards waved them through, and Austin was relieved.
Later that night, after stopping in Van Horn, Texas, he decided to try the joint. He took a few hits, felt a slight buzz, and realized he didnt like it. He asked his wife Kristen to make him a martini and joked that the joint wasnt worth it. In the end, Austin said marijuana just isnt his thing, and hed much rather enjoy his favorite drinks like beer, margaritas, or vodka. For him, alcohol is the clear winner over marijuana.
While some may have hoped Austin would take up marijuana, his love for beer remains his top choice. His preference for alcohol is a key part of what makes him such a larger-than-life name in professional wrestling. For Austin, its not just about having a drink, its about staying authentic to what he enjoys and fans understand why he prefers beer.
