From tomorrow, Monday 13 January, the defense of Jannik Sinner's title at the Australian Open 2025 will begin.

On the Rod Laver Arena, the Italian will try to replicate the sensational success of last season, which began his exciting ride towards the throne of men's tennis. The 2-time Slam champion wants to continue on the level shown in the previous season, thus confirming himself as the player to beat on the Tour.
The Italian and his staff are ready and motivated, even if the horizon of 16 and 17 April 2025 looms over them, when the CAS will pronounce the definitive sentence on the Clostebol doping issue.
His coach Simone Vagnozzi, in an interview with Italian media Gazzetta dello Sport, analyzed what he expects from the Australian campaign, focusing - inevitably - on the doping issue and the sentence that the CAS will have to express.
"We start immediately with a great challenge. A tough opponent but the important thing is that Jannik gives it his all as always. And above all that he has fun. With the awareness that Jannik hasn't done anything wrong, he hasn't made any mistakes.

Furthermore, tennis is a sport that teaches you to face different situations, solve problems. To play tennis you have to learn to adapt to what happens on the court and that's what he did," he explained.
Vagnozzi then added: "We have tried to always stay focused on the matches, on the programs, on the training. Trying to talk as little as possible about the situation. This is what we will continue to do in the coming months, starting with this Slam which for Jannik, for us, is important. These are the things we can control, everything else doesn't depend on us."
As we said, Jannik failed two doping tests carried out during the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, testing positive for Clostebol. The Italian was first acquitted by the independent ITIA tribunal, but - as we now know - WADA appealed to the CAS in Lausanne, asking for 1-2 years of suspension.
