Novak Djokovic won his first match at the 2025 Australian Open in four sets. The Serbian legend did not play his best tennis against the young American Basavareddy at the iconic Rod Laver Arena, but he raised his level in the second half of the match and avoided further trouble.

The 37-year-old from Belgrade is on the hunt for the 25th Grand Slam title of his career and he knows that he will need to be 100% in the decisive rounds to be able to achieve this incredible feat. The former world number 1 is not going to win this year and his debut at Melbourne Park has left some doubt about his current condition.
However, Nole has worked a lot during the off-season and the advice of a legend like Andy Murray will be very useful in certain circumstances. The current world number 7 was in need of a jolt after last years difficulties and the former Scottish champion seems to have the right attitude to help him both on and off the court.
Faria on facing Nole Djokovic
The 24-time Grand Slam champion will use tomorrow to practice and improve some details, before returning to the court against Portuguese ace Jaime Faria. The latter defeated the Russian Pavel Kotov in three sets and will be able to play without pressure, which is why he cannot be underestimated by Novak.

When interviewed by 'BolaAmarela' about his match against Djokovic, Faria did not hide his excitement: "Obviously I expect a very tough match in every respect, but playing against a legend will be a unique experience for me. Im going to face the best player of all time in one of his favorite tournaments. Its going to be amazing and Im going to try to enjoy every moment. Im going to go out there knowing that I have a chance."
Nole won the Australian Open ten times and wants to lift the trophy once again, while Faria will try to take advantage of every opportunity to give himself an unforgettable day.
